If fire or another natural disaster prevents you from leaving Sky Ranch or Via Cielo by your traditional route, would you know how to escape? In Fall 2021, more than 30 Tularcitos Ridge residents and first responders gathered with CALFIRE, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, and Monterey County Office of Emergency Services to practice evacuating Tularcitos Ridge via alternate dirt roads through the Tira Nanza Vineyard; from Eagle’s Court through Mike Officer’s property, and through Richard Crane’s property in the Via Cielo neighborhood. At a de-briefing afterward, residents said they felt safer knowing where their options are, and Monterey County Office of Emergency Services asked to highlight Tularcitos Ridge Fire Safety Group as a forward-thinking fire community in it’s upcoming County Evacuation Preparedness Report.
